Episode 14 – Porn and Your Kids with Chris McKenna

On episode 14 we talk with Chris McKenna about the danger of porn and how to help your kids deal with it.

After working in the business world and then in student ministry, Chris became Educational Resource Manager for Covenant Eyes, an Internet Safety and Accountability Company. In 2015 he created Protect Young Eyes as a way to equip and encourage parents and students to use technology responsibly. Now, hundreds and hundreds of hours later, Chris’ research has helped countless families around the country.

Our conversation with Chris McKenna includes:

  • How and when parents should talk to their kids about porn
  • How a parent can respond to a child when he/she sees something inappropriate online
  • How to get your kids to come and tell you when they see something they shouldn’t see online
  • What parents can do to try to protect their kids from inappropriate content
  • How to avoid analog parenting in a digital age – and what that looks like

Resources:

The Protect Young Eyes website is a treasure trove of helpful resources for parents. We’re particularly excited about this series of videos designed for parents to watch with their kids. They are labeled by age so you can pick the ones that are most appropriate to your kids’ age and development.
